What does James mean by "You adulterous people, don't you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God."
And what does John mean by "Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For everything in the world—the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does—comes not from the Father but from the world."
Since this world is the habitat of the flesh, it is easy to see why it is so easy to become enamored with it. The flesh is in tune with the world and the two are friends. But God's children must consider the following question as a measure of their belief:
Do you love the world so much that you wish God continues to postpone his coming so that you may continue on with your agenda?
