If government officials believe that you have the virus, federal law allows them to round you up and detain you “for such time and in such manner as may be reasonably necessary.” In addition, the CDC already has the authority to quarantine healthy Americans if they reasonably believe that they may become sick. During an outbreak, the government can force you to remain isolated in your own home, or the government may forcibly take you to a treatment facility, a tent city, a sports stadium, an old military base or a camp. You would not have any choice in the matter. And you would be forced to endure any medical procedure mandated by the government. That includes shots, vaccines and the drawing of blood. During such a scenario, you can scream about your “rights” all that you want, but it won’t do any good.

Obama on Tuesday will announce an expansion of a $763 million U.S. plan to help West Africa nations fight the spread of the Ebola virus, officials said Monday night.
Can you imagine if such a pandemic WERE to spread? I saw a video of a man in Liberia, who was apparently infected by the disease being ostracized by the people. Men in space suits tried to corral the poor guy and then finally seized him.
My question is....how do we know who has contracted a disease if there are no visible symptoms? Next thing you know, you get one case of "Ebola" in the US and that gives the govt permission to start "seizing" people because they are suspected of having the virus.

WASHINGTON -- The United States will impose a new round of sanctions on Russia on Friday, joining the European Union in ramping up pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin over the Russian presence in Ukraine.
President Obama said the broadened sanctions will target Russia's financial, energy, and defense sectors.
"These measures will increase Russia's political isolation as well as the economic costs to Russia, especially in areas of importance to President Putin and those close to him," Obama said in a statement released by the White House Press Office. "As I said last week, if Russia fully implements its commitments, these sanctions can be rolled back. If, instead, Russia continues its aggressive actions and violations of international law, the costs will continue to rise."
Not sure how credible Obama thinks his threats are...but the US is not in a position to keep bullying others.

The world is allowing the Ebola outbreak to spin out of control, according to a leading humanitarian group helping to treat patients in West Africa.
In a separate speech, the USA's top public health official also called on global leaders to do far more to control the Ebola outbreak that has now spread to five countries.
"I could not possibly overstate the need for an emergency response," said Thomas Frieden, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, who just returned from visiting Ebola treatment centers in West Africa. "There is a window of opportunity to tamp this down, but that window is closing. ... We need action now."
Sounds threatening...statement and condition.

It just seems that East and West are growing further and further apart...

Q: I think my Internet connection is down, but I'm not sure. How can I tell that it's not just me?
A: I suspect a great many Time Warner Cable subscribers were asking variations of this question when the No. 2 cable-Internet service in the U.S. suffered a massive outage across the country caused by a configuration mistake.
Has the spider web that we are all so caught upon become more indispensable than water?? What WOULD happen if the internet did go down? Or if the LIGHT of the world was taken out?????

The presence or absence of tax motivation is no longer relevant, but that could change. After Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin departed for Singapore, Senators Chuck Schumer and Bob Casey introduced a bill to double the exit tax to 30% for anyone leaving the U.S. for tax reasons.
To leave America, you generally must prove 5 years of U.S. tax compliance. If you have a net worth greater than $2 million or average annual net income tax for the 5 previous years of $157,000 or more for 2014 (that’s tax, not income), you pay an exit tax. It is a capital gain tax as if you sold your property when you left. At least there’s an exemption of $680,000 for 2014. Long-term residents giving up a Green Card can be required to pay the tax too.
Now, the State Department interim rule just raised the fee for renunciation of U.S. citizenship to $2,350 from $450. Critics note that it’s more than twenty times the average level in other high-income countries. The State Department says it’s about demand on their services and all the extra workload they have to process people who are on their way out.
Apparently, dual citizens in Canada trying to shed their U.S. citizenship have created a backlog at the U.S. consulate in Toronto that stretches into the third week of January 2015. A decision to expatriate should never be taken lightly. Taxes or not, it can be a big step. And around the world, more people are talking about taking it.
